Competitors, get ready to heat up the Western Idaho Fair with an epic BBQ Competition! This is your chance to shine as passionate grillmasters, showcasing your skills with grilled chicken and ribs. Your secret spice blends and marinades will sizzle on the grills, tantalizing the senses of the judges. The lively atmosphere of the fair will provide a fun environment to battle it out for your chance to vie for the title of Grand Champion.
Rules & Details
- Load In: All supplies must be delivered and set-up by 10:00 a.m. and all vehicles must be parked in the designated parking area for pickups/trailers by 10:00 a.m.
- Space: Teams have a 10×10 space unless other arrangements have been made prior.
- Cooking: Cooking begins at 10:00 a.m. It is prohibited to begin cooking prior to 10:00 a.m. Wood, charcoal, or pellet smokers only. No Gas Grills, propane, or camp stoves except to heat up water/sauces/etc. Remember, trimming your meats before you arrive is perfectly ok but DO NOT Season, Brine, or Inject your meats before arriving when a meat inspection will occur! Always keep your meats on ice or refrigerated – a minimum of 6 pieces of each meat is required in each turn-in box & boxes are provided! Teams provide their own Chicken and Ribs for these events. Water is available but not to fill trailers/rigs. Please fill trailers before arriving.
- Turn In: Six pieces of each meat (chicken and ribs) are required for turn in. Meat must be same type each turn in. For example, you cannot turn in two wings, a leg, a breast, and a thigh. A panel of judges will receive the turn in boxes and judge the entry with a score and feedback for the competitor.
- Ribs: STL or Baby Back Pork ribs only: No “Country style” ribs.
- Chicken Turn In: 4:00 p.m.
- Rib Turn In: 4:30 p.m.
- Turn In Box will be provided; Garnishes are OPTIONAL.
- Facilities: Power will be provided but you will need extension cables to reach it. Having a backup is always encouraged. Do not light charcoal on any blacktop or you will be disqualified. We have trash and grease disposal bins. ALL trash will need to be bagged and put into the dumpsters. Fire extinguishers required up to 5lb 2A40BC or 3A40BC.

- Load Out: Please coordinate your estimated timeline for load-out upon check in. Supplies can be carted out or service carted using Western Idaho Fair service carts directly following the competition to vehicles in designated areas. We are planning load-out between 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. No moving vehicle can be on grounds prior to 11:00 p.m. without the escort of Fair personnel.
